who the heck is Salem?

Salem Corwin (He/They) is a chaotic Catskillian cryptid who strives to spread queer joy across the mountains! With a ukulele as his weapon of choice, Salem has self-released two albums - “Take 23” (2019) and “Messy” (2021). In 2022 Salem took part in the first ever all transgender cast and crew show in NYC theater history, performing as John and Billy in “The Civility of Albert Cashier” at The Players Theater.
You can hear more of Salem’s gentle-yet-theatrical voice in the audiobook for Robin Gow’s “A Million Quiet Revolutions”, as Oliver - a young trans man speaking through love letters and prose. These days you can also find Salem on the airways, during his local radio show “Gender Blender” on 91.3FM every other Tuesday. You can learn more at the 'My Music' tab!

Offstage Salem is an avid knitter and pattern tester, a Jewitch (Jewish witch), and a flaming scorpio. They are a seeker of the truth, a lover of protests and civil disobedience, and a believer that theater can help to heal our world.

"I have never witnessed someone be so present, so INATELY present in the work. Watching Salem perform is like drinking water, a breath of fresh air, a hug for 30 seconds, wrapping yourself in a fuzzy blanket, singing in the shower... the list goes on for days."
